TiColors
Now you can choose your GEISTER titanium instruments in your favorite color for better identification. Choose from natural grey (GY), bronze (BZ)purple (PR)royal blue (BL)silver-blue (SB)yellow (YW)magenta (MG)cyan (CN)green (GR) titanium colors.

The color of our TiCOLORS™ titanium instruments is not a paint, plate or pigment. The color is caused by anodization, an electrolytic process that causes the titanium to change color based on the voltage controlled thickness of the dielectric oxide layer. The oxide layer is as hypoallergenic as titanium, but has a unique light refractory property that causes the titanium to appear in various colors to the human eye. So the colors are produced by controlled application of a fairly simple law of physics, which is the same law that explains the rainbow colors seen in oil on wet pavement.

The color will not fade or chip though it can be scratched off, as the titanium is not colored through the entire depth of the metal. Although titanium is a very strong metal, as with any metal it can, and will scratch.  And with scratching, the titanium color may be removed. Therefore protect your TiCOLORS™ instrument from scratches. Also oil and stains can temporarily dull some of the colors. Abrasives can gradually wear away the surface coloring. Use alcohol or non-moisturizing soap and water and a soft cloth to gently wipe away dulling stains and oils. Avoid metal polishes or scrubbing soaps, because these contain abrasives which may scrub away the sub-micron thick color layer. Please note that dark blues and violets are sensitive to fingerprints.

Ordering of your GEISTER TiCOLORS™ instrument is simple. Just add the TiCOLORS™ color code as stated in brackets above behind the titanium instruments’ article reference (e.g. 03-4635.YW for a yellow needle holder or 10-4023.GR for a green ring tip tissue forceps). A small surcharge applies.
